1 Wounded In Daylight Downtown Shootout, 1 Suspect At Large
One gunshot victim was taken to the hospital, and the suspected shooter fled the scene, according to New Rochelle police.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An exchange of gunfire broke out near the New Rochelle Metro-North train station Monday afternoon.
The New Rochelle Police Department says that on Monday, at 12:53 p.m., officers responded to reports of two people trading gunfire on a busy downtown stretch of North Avenue.
On the way to the scene, police found a gunshot wound victim in the area of Huguenot St. and North Ave.

Officers provided immediate first aid to the man, who was conscious and alert. He was taken to the hospital by emergency personnel, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition, according to officials.
Police say the wounded 22-year-old New Rochelle man was found to be in possession of a firearm.

During the investigation, police established two crime scenes: Huguenot St. between LeCount Pl. and North Ave., and the area in front of 311 North Ave., including North Ave. from Garden St. to the train overpass. Both areas were temporarily closed off for processing of evidence by detectives throughout the afternoon.
Police say the second suspect involved in the shooting incident fled the scene before police arrived. He is described by police only as a Black male wearing red pants and a black jacket.
The New Rochelle Police Department said officers are pursuing leads and following up on information that may help identify and locate the suspect.
