Ambulance Service Shuts Its Doors in Westchester

White Plains, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon had used the service for emergency care.

An ambulance service that provided care for 200,000 residents in the lower Hudson Valley shut down Wednesday.

TransCare told its workers via an email that they would no longer have jobs, according to an article in the Journal News.

Among those affected were the cities of White Plains, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon.

White Plains officials said Empress EMS has stepped in to provide service for the city, the Journal News said, and New Rochelle and Mount Vernon have signed 90-day emergency contracts with the service.
