On Anniversary Of Killing, Cops Ask For Help Finding Fugitive Suspect
The suspect is believed to be in hiding somewhere in the southern U.S., according to detectives working with federal law enforcement.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Today is the one-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of James Caldwell Jr. and police are marking the occasion by reminding the public that Caldwell's suspected killer remains a fugitive from justice.
Although New Rochelle Police Department detectives have identified the person believed to be responsible for the murder, the suspect, Mtayari Dixon, is believed to be in hiding somewhere in the southern United States, according to police officials. Investigators have been working with other law enforcement agencies, including the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, to bring Dixon to justice.

New Rochelle detectives have obtained a warrant of arrest identifying a suspect in the homicide that happened on October 26, 2022, on Horton Ave. and Colonel Lee Archer Blvd.
The New Rochelle Police Department started to get reports of shots fired and of a person shot at the New Rochelle Municipal Housing Authority Heritage Homes.
Police found Caldwell at the scene, on the ground, with multiple gunshot wounds. New Rochelle police, fire and ambulance personnel administered first aid and he was taken to a local hospital.
Caldwell eventually died from his wounds.
The 29-year-old suspect is from New Rochelle but was known to live in Stamford, Connecticut. The warrant calls for full extradition from any U.S. State.
