Bites Nearby: Da Giorgio Restaurant

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, New Rochelle Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

With freshly made pastas, nightly specials and a warm and inviting ambiance, Da Giorgio is the perfect place to take that special someone to a romantic dinner in New Rochelle.

Executive Chef Giorgio Giacinto founded the restaurant in 2007 in memory of his father, learning his craft in both Italy and Manhattan and infusing his own style and creations into the traditional cuisines he now serves at his restaurant on Quaker Ridge Rd.

The antipasto menu alone is impressive with selections such as Stuffed Meatball Calabrese, Baked Clams Oreganata, Mussels Bianco o Fra Diavolo and Calamari Fritti.

Giorgio's pasta entrees also are sure to leave you satisfied. These include favorite like the Lasagna Calabrese, which not only has the traditional pasta and cheeses, but Mini Meatballs, Caciocavalo Cheese and paper-thin Prosciutto.

"This is truly one of our favorite restaurants...the food is very good and we love Giorgio's creative and delicious food," remarked a woman who dined there a few months ago on zagat.com.

Another customer stated on superpages.com that, "this is a restaurant which takes great pride in its food. We used to eat at the previous Italian restaurant that was quite good. However, they take it up a notch with carefully prepared and tasty dishes. The chef often comes out to check on the guests. I would eat here at any opportunity."

Da Giorgio is open for lunch from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Dinner hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday dinner hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Also note that the restaurant is closed Mondays.
