League of Women Voters Cable Programming for Women's History Month—March

LWV of New Rochelle Cable Programs Celebrate Women's History Month

The story of women's rights is a fascinating one that is still being written today. Two cable television programs celebrating Women’s History Month are scheduled in March on “City People and Issues,” produced by the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle, on Cablevision Channel 76, on Mondays at 7 p.m. and repeated Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.

Sydelle Herzberg, historian for the League of Women Voters of New York State, describes the long history of the struggle, beginning with the women’s convention in Seneca Falls in 1848, a time when women could not even own property, through the passage of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in 1920 granting women the right to vote, on to the challenges of the present. Host is Ina Aronow

Sheila R.Klatsky, Ph.D., of the Westchester Women’s Agenda, a nonpartisan, feminist coalition which acts to affect change on issues of concern to women, talks about the Women’s Summit day she is coordinating. She also discusses the future challenges for the organization.Haina Just Michael is host.
