Flowers Earns HVIAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week Accolades

For the second consecutive week, the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has honored Indigo Flowers as its Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference.

Flowers handed out 61 assists (5.6 per set) in three matches last week.  The freshman setter also paced the team at the service line, landing nine aces, while adding 21 digs in a defensive role.  Flowers posted her best match in the win over Mt. St. Vincent, recording her third double-double of the season with a match-high 31 assists and 11 digs.  The win over the Dolphins was CNR’s sixth win in seven matches at the time.

In the most recent NCAA DIII national statistical leaders (thru games of September 22), Flowers leads the conference and is ranked 24th in the nation in aces per set, averaging 0.78 aces per set.

This marks the third time this season that the HVIAC has recognized a College of New Rochelle volleyball rookie, as Marissa Armstrong earned the award on September 4.
