Funeral Set for Man Shot in New Rochelle Saturday

Police do not believe he was the intended target of the shooting.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Services have been scheduled for the 79-year-old man who was shot and killed Saturday while sitting outside a bodega.

Visitation for Manuel Ayala-Oceguera will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at New Rochelle Funeral Home, 104 Fourth St., with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, according to the Journal News.

Officers were called to 238 Union Ave. around 11:15 p.m. and found Ayala-Oceguera with a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was taken to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to News 12, police said he was not believed to be the intended target.
