ReStore: Habitat for Humanity Opens New Retail Store in New Rochelle

The group is hosting a grand opening event for ReStore, located at 659 Main St. in New Rochelle, on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The following announcement is from Habitat for Humanity:

With the help of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity is having the Grand Opening event of its second storefront retail location at 659 Main Street in New Rochelle this Tuesday, November 25th at 4PM and all are invited. This store is a larger retail environment with more than 10,000 square feet and brings people from all over to New Rochelle. While visiting this week, people from Montana came to check out the goods. Jim Killoran, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Westchester is proud of its national presence saying, “It is one of 800 in the country!”

The ReStore was “Green” before it was fashionable and their prices are always reasonable. They have many antiques, cabinets, appliances, home furnishings, and recycled treasures; some of which are from sets of various television shows and furniture from famous artists born in New Rochelle. Production companies have already inquired about buying furniture for their sets.

Killoran is even more excited about the store’s local presence saying, “We have been in Historic Main St. for years and now we introduce the greenest store in all of Westchester… Having hired from New Rochelle, generated sales tax and jobs, and rehabbed homes and a community center… we continue in celebrating Habitat’s gift to New Rochelle with the ReStore.”

The ReStore helps fund efforts for the Habitat of Humanity of Westchester. With an army of volunteers, including local retirees and students from New Rochelle High and Isaac Young Middle Schools and Iona Prep, Habitat was recently acknowledged for turning two formerly foreclosed houses in Yonkers into places to call home for two Iraq War veterans and their families in the newly named Battle Hill neighborhood.

On Black Friday, the ReStore will have bands play and during the holidays carolers from different local groups, including the well-known Songcatchers, will play while customers come to meet Santa. The Grand Opening event is sure to please all as the Habitat team will have refreshments, music and, of course, you will be able to see what treasures you may find for yourself. Go ahead, it’s easy being Green!
