Suspect in Rockland Home Invasion Arrested in New Rochelle

Clarkstown police have charged a Bedford Hills man whom they took into custody while he was meeting with his parole officer.

NEW CITY, NY— Clarkstown Police detectives have arrested a Westchester resident for alleged involvement in a recent home invasion burglary in New City, NY.

Ralph Belotti of Bedford Hills was taken into custody in New Rochelle Monday as he appeared for his scheduled visit with his parole officer.

At 11 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2017 Clarkstown police responded to 44 Buena Vista Road for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner was home at the time of the break-in. The officers interviewed the victim, a 20-year-old who said she was home alone on the second floor.

She heard someone knock on the front door. A few minutes later she heard someone break through the rear door of the house. The victim locked herself in a closet in her bedroom. A neighbor was able to interrupt the incident and the suspect fled in a dark colored sedan.

Through witness statements and video footage the Clarkstown Detective Bureau was able to compile enough evidence to secure an arrest warrant for Ralph Belotti, 53, of Bedford Hills.

Belotti was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with burglary 2nd (felony). Belotti was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. He was remanded to Rockland County Jail. His return court date is today.
