George Barry Acoustic Guitar and Voice

George Barry * Live Performance  BIO
For the average listener walking into an acoustic performance by George Barry, the sound is unmistakable. Although the songs are instantly familiar (The Beatles, The Eagles, James Taylor,  Eric Clapton etc) the treatment of them is far from ordinary.
“I really love this music”. He states in a matter of fact tone. “I’ve seen a lot of people play these songs..But it seemed to me, they didn’t realize it’s a privilege. I guess they forgot that these songs define a lot of people’s lives. It certainly has mine.”
Although George doesn’t change the words or music, his treatment come from respect.        “It always surprised me that many performers think it’s all about them. They play to loud, or talk to much. I just focus on the songs.  These songs say it all.  I don’t know if there is a better song than “Blackbird” (by The Beatles), for when you’re sitting in a Vineyard trying a new wine.  Or after a long, hard day at work, hearing “You’ve got a friend”  is really soothing.    I play that one a lot in restaurants”.
In twenty years of playing music, it seems the boy nicknamed “Guitar-George” has found his niche. Playing the music we all know by heart, right here on Long Island.
