Man Saved After Kayak Overturns In Long Island Sound
A wave hit him broadside, causing the kayak to flip, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A man was rescued after his kayak overturned in the Long Island Sound Thursday, police said.
At 4:48 p.m., Clifford Cornell, 51, of Southold called the Southold Police to report that his kayak had overturned in the Sound off McCabe's Beach on North Sea Drive, authorities said.
Cornell said he had lost his rudder, leaving him unable to steer the kayak in to shore, when a wave hit him broadside, flipping his kayak over, police said.
