Mattituck Pilot Crash-Lands Helicopter In Aquebogue

The pilot was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, but did not appear to be badly injured, according to officials.

A helicopter pilot from Mattituck was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center after he crash-landed a helicopter in Aquebogue on Sunday, The Suffolk Times reports.

At about 4 p.m., Erwin S. Rodger, 71, landed a Mosquito Ultra Light Helicopter he had put together, in a field off Church Lane near Vineyard Way because of a mechanical issue, according to The Suffolk Times.

He was then taken to the hospital, but officials told The Suffolk Times, “he did not appear to be badly injured”.

Firefighters stopped the fuel leakage from the damaged parts of the helicopters, which did not catch fire, according to The Suffolk Times.

The incident is still being investigated.
