Hello, North Fork neighbors and friends! Top in the news today, lawmakers acted Wednesday to address a critical infant formula shortage that has left parents nationwide desperately searching to find the food needed to feed their babies.
Also, a new bagel store is coming to the spot where Scoops & Grinds was located.
And we'd like to spotlight the Mattituck Lions Club, who donated $50,000 to help nurses further their educations. The Mattituck Lions Club, longtime hosts of the upcoming Mattituck Strawberry Festival, works tirelessly to support locals in need in our community. They often do their good works quietly, helping families without a need for attention or fanfare — just opening their hearts to those in need. They are heroes on the North Fork, and we thank them.

- $50K Donation Aimed At Educating 'Backbone' Nurses: Peconic Bay Medical Center announced Wednesday that it had received a $50,000 donation from the Mattituck Lions Club to support the hospital's Mattituck Lions' Nursing Education Fund. The fund empowers Peconic Bay Medical Center nurses to enroll in continuing education programs that can help them move forward in their careers by covering tuition, certifications, and other ancillary expenses, PBMC said. "Nurses are the backbone of Peconic Bay Medical Center. The Mattituck Lions' Nursing Education Fund enables us to provide our nurses with extra resources to expand their careers, and, in turn, continue advancing our ability to care for and provide this community with compassionate, high-quality medical care," said Dr. Amy E. Loeb, executive director of Peconic Bay Medical Center and former chief nursing officer. (Patch)
