Peconic Landing Members Thank Coronavirus Heroes With Artwork

GREENPORT, NY — Members at Peconic Landing are thanking the staffers who worked tirelessly to keep them safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Greenport retirement community, like other nursing homes and congregate facilities, saw some residents lost to the coronavirus. But despite the unprecedented months, team members worked long days and hours to keep members safe, spirits up — and hope alive.

And now, Peconic Landing members are opening their hearts and sharing their talents in appreciation. Members have come together to organize the "Thank You Heroes" art raffle as a "token of appreciation for the employees' continuous care and dedication," Peconic Landing said in a release.

The auction includes nearly 50 pieces of artwork, created by Peconic Landing's member-run art club, and encompasses paintings, photographs, and more.

From watercolors of North Fork landscapes to abstract paintings and sketches, the raffle showcases a wide variety of talent. Other members donated crafted gifts including jewelry, ceramics, and hand-knit items.

Outdoor art classes at Peconic Landing are ongoing, and all members are encouraged to participate and foster creativity, the release added.

“As a certified Center for Successful Aging, Peconic Landing encourages all of our members to pursue their interests and explore their passions to the highest degree. It is humbling that in this challenging time they have chosen to use their passions to give back to our hardworking team,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “We are proud to serve these talented and giving individuals, and their artwork will surely touch the hearts of many.”

Each team member at Peconic Landing has been given two raffle tickets to use toward the artwork of their choice. The raffle will take place on Friday.
