Stove Fire Extinguished At Southold Home: PD

The fire broke out on Sunday, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A kitchen fire broke out in a Southold home Sunday, officials said.

According to Southold Town Police, the stove fire started at 5:17 p.m. at a home on Breitstadt Court; a homeowner called in the fire.

A Southold Town Police officer was the first at the home and was able to extinguish the fire, police said. The Southold Fire Department responded, removed the stove, and cleared the residence of smoke, police said.

"The police department made a great stop with their extinguishers," Southold Fire Chief Peggy Killian said.

The SFD found no further hazards and the residence was cleared for the owners to return, police said.
