Vehicle Erupts Into Flames On North Fork
The owner of the vehicle reported smokes and flames coming from the engine compartment, police say.
EAST MARION, NY — A vehicle erupted into flames on the North Fork this week, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 8:54 a.m. Tuesday on a private road in East Marion. When police and the East Marion Fire Department arrived, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, authorities said.
The owner of the vehicle said that when he parked, he noticed smoke and fire coming from the engine compartment, police said.

The East Marion Fire Department extinguished the fire; the chief of the EMFD believed the fire to be caused by a mechanical issue, and did not believe any foul play was involved, police said.
