Woman, Possibly Intoxicated, Injured After Falling Off Pier In Greenport

GREENPORT, NY — A woman, possibly intoxicated, fell off the pier in Greenport Sunday and hit her head on a floating dock, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the accident took place on Sunday afternoon when the woman fell into the water from a pier.

Her husband and a friend pulled her from the harbor before Southold Town Police and the Greenport Fire Department arrived on the scene, police said. The woman was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital, police said.

Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley said he believed alcohol may have been a factor.
