Elwood Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage and Academics

Students honored at 20th Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Huntington's Town Hall.

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School is pleased to announce that seniors Isabella Llano and Dianna Bartolotta received the Student Achievement Award as part of the 20th Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration Program held at Huntington’s Town Hall.

Receiving a Proclamation from the Town of Huntington, Isabella and Dianna were among 21 outstanding high school students recognized for their exceptional academic performance, extracurricular activities and community service. Celebrating the Hispanic heritage, Town Board and members of the Town’s Hispanic Task Force presented the award to each high school student honoree.

Along with their rigorous academic priorities, Isabella and Dianna actively participate in several after-school clubs and extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Community Club, Environmental Club, high school marching band, chorus, and varsity track and field. In their spare time, Isabella volunteers at Huntington Hospital and Dianna tutors after school.

Both students plan to continue their educational journey, applying to numerous colleges that offer the academic focus they desire. Dianna aspires to major in government while Isabella plans to major in biology working towards becoming a physician’s assistant.

According to Elwood-John H. Glenn Interim High School Principal Dr. James Ruck, “We are delighted on the selection of Isabella Llano and Dianna Bartolotta receiving Student Achievement Awards. They are both incredibly talented young ladies who care about their school, peers and the community.”
