Long Island's Mikey Brannigan Wins Paralympic Gold

BREAKING: The 19-year-old won the race comfortably.

East Northport’s 19-year-old running phenom crossed the finish line in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a comfortable four second lead to win the men’s T20 1,500 meter race Tuesday morning.

Mikey Brannigan won the race in 3 minutes and 51.73 seconds.

Brannigan, who has autism, was the favorite coming into the race. He is the 2015 Paralympics Track and Field World Champion in the men’s 1,5000 meters T20 race and a recently crowned sub-4 minute miler.
