Northport Police Blotter: 3 More Hawk Attacks Reported
ALSO: Blood was found inside a laundromat on a rag and the building's floor and doorknobs, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 21 through March 27.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A woman who believes her car ran out of gas was helped by police to move her car to a parking space where she could call a mechanic. The incident happened on Main Street on March 21.
- A person fell and suffered injuries on Lisa Drive on March 23. Northport Rescue brought the person to Huntington Hospital.
- A summons was issued to a vehicle blocking a Woodbine Avenue driveway on March 23. The passenger sitting inside told police his friend had just gone to drop something off and he didn't realize they were blocking a driveway.
- A man was attacked by a hawk in his Main Street back yard on March 24. He said the hawk clawed at the back of his head, causing scratches. The man declined medical attention.
- A person fell and suffered injuries on Earl Avenue on March 24. Northport Rescue brought the person to Huntington Hospital.
- A woman told police a hawk attacked her on Church Street on March 25. The woman also said the hawk attacked her in her back yard, which is near Church Street. Hawk attacks have been reported in Northport for months, dating back to at least last summer. The police chief received communication from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, which stated that an application has been submitted for use of a drone to find the hawk's nest later next week.
- A woman was looking for a phone on a School Street homeowner's property on March 27. The homeowner told police she was outside gardening when someone approached her explaining that her iPhone had been tracked to her location via the find my iPhone app and wanted to look around. The homeowner told the woman she was uncomfortable with someone coming onto her property and asked her to leave. The homeowner said the woman became aggressive in her tone before leaving. Police told the woman to call them if the other woman came back.
- A hawk attacked a man who was running on Scudder Avenue around 7 a.m. March 27. The hawk clawed at the back of the man's head, causing minor scratches. The man did not need medical attention but wanted the attack documented.
- Blood droplets were reported on the floor of Laurel Laundromat on March 27. A woman said she saw blood on the floor but didn't see anyone else around. Police found blood droplets on the floor and outside on the driveway as well as on the doorknobs of both interior and exterior doors. A blood-stained white rag was also found in a trash can inside the building. Police did not find anything in the laundromat. A canine unit responded and performed a search, but they also found nothing. The business owner arrived to search the building and arrange to clean it.
