Northport Police Report: Hypodermic Needles; Squirrel-in-a-Box

Hypodermic needles found near a storm drain, weighing a baby squirrel's options, iPhone 4S delivery mixup, in trouble for marijuana residue, and more incidents and arrests around Northport this week.

Needles: Three unused hypodermic needles were found near a street drain on Woodbine Avenue on Wednesday and removed by police.

Squirrel-in-a-Box: Police responded to a report of a baby squirrel in a box on Monday. The complainant was given several options on how to proceed with said squirrel.

Man-in-the-Street: Police found a man lying incoherent in the street on Northwest Drive at 5:48 a.m on Sunday. Northport Rescue transported him to Huntington Hospital.

iPhone Scare: A man on Hollacher Drive called the police on Saturday when his $700 iPhone 4S didn't show up after delivery was confirmed through FedEx. He later discovered that the phone had mistakenly been delivered to his neighbor.

Dog Fight: The owner of a Field Spaniel named "Mickey" reported that her dog was attacked, but uninjured, by a German Shepherd on Main Street on Saturday morning. The owner of the German Shepherd said the incident occurred on her property and that she immediately gained control of her dog. She was then reminded of the Village Code with regards to unleashed animals.

Mischief: An officer responded to a report of kids throwing rocks and bottles at a Fort Salonga Road property on Friday night but found no sign of the children upon arrival.

Marijuana Possession: Paul Bartkowski, 21, of East Northport, and John Morell, 21, of Commack, were issued tickets in lieu of arrest and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Tuesday when police found a small pipe containing marijuana residue. Bartkowski was also charged with no/expired insurance, speeding, and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Harassment: Sean Costa, 25, of Northport was served with a criminal summons for two counts of second degree harassment on Friday for an incident that occurred in September.
