Promoting Fire Safety at Norwood Avenue School

Northport Fire Department share expertise with students.

Northport Fire Department officials visited Norwood Avenue School students on Oct. 15 as part of Fire Safety Month, which has been observed throughout the district during October.

Firefighters held an assembly for each grade level to discuss fire safety with students. They also parked on the playground and displayed heavy equipment, which students were able to explore.

To bring more awareness to fire safety, the Northport Fire Department also sponsored a “Fire Safety Poster Contest,” in which students submitted their artwork with themes ranging from emergency escape plans, fire prevention ideas or stop, drop and roll.
