'Warrior Weekend' in Northport: 9/11 Memorial Service, 4-Mile Run, Golf Tourney

Saturday's events will raise money for veterans.

The third annual “Warrior Weekend” in Northport on Saturday is jam-packed with events that are expected to raise a significant amount of funding for wounded veterans and veterans in need.

“Warrior Weekend” will feature the U.S. Air Force honor guard, a four-mile run, a golf tournament and a memorial service for veterans and first responders. The event is organized by the Cow Harbor Warriors.

“We’ve packed a full day of recreation, remembrance and appreciation into one day that our entire community can be part of,” said Don McKay, president of Cow Harbor Warriors, in a press release.

Cow Harbor Warrior Weekend Schedule

“Driving for the Brave” Golf Tournament

  • Kicks off at 7:15 a.m.
  • Location: Crab Meadow Golf Course
  • Tournament is organized by Hoops of Northport

Capt. Joseph J. Boccia, Jr., USMC 4-Mile Warrior Run

  • Kicks off at 8:30 a.m.
  • Location: Crab Meadow Beach Park
  • Race is part of the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency Race Series and is sanctioned by USATF.

Special 9/11 Ceremony and Salute to the Fallen

  • Kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
  • Location: Crab Meadow Beach Park
  • Memorial service will feature the 54-person U.S. Air Force honor guard that will honor the memories of those who died on 9/11 and those who have lost their lives in the years that followed.

Military and First Responder Appreciation Day

  • Held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
  • Location: La Casa Café, Crab Meadow Beach Park
  • Event is open to all runners, military, first responders and their families.
  • Food and beverages will be provided, along with live music, wellness activities, beach yoga, massages, beach volleyball, kids games and more.

Cow Harbor Warriors is a nonprofit that raises funds through the community to help veterans. They have donated more than $160,000 to veteran organizations since its inception in 2012. For more information on the organization, go here.
