'Artful Receptacles' from ARC Grace Senior Centers in Nyack, Haverstraw, Nanuet, New City

Participants in ARC of Rockland’s Without Walls groups worked with members of five Meals on Wheels Senior Citizen Centers in Haverstraw, Nyack, Nanuet, New City and Sparkhill to create “Artful Receptacles.”

The receptacles were obtained through Keep Rockland Beautiful as part of the Great American Cleanup.

The men and women representing ARC of Rockland sanded, primed and delivered the cans to each Senior Center where, along with the seniors, they decided on themes for each of the receptacles and jointly applied the paint.

The finished products will be entered into the Keep Rockland Beautiful contest to take place in May.

The sturdy cans will be placed at sites throughout the county. Said one participant, “I like art and I care about the environment.” A win-win situation.
