Clarkstown Police Chief Says Malls Are Safe for Families and Shoppers

No violent incidents were associated with the massive drug-trafficking conspiracies revealed today.

Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan spoke about this morning’s revelations and arrests connected to a big drug-trafficking network in Rockland County that used local malls as spots to buy and sell oxycodone and heroin.

This morning the Clarkstown Police Department, along with Federal and local law enforcement agencies participated in “Operation True Blue”. This operation was an assault on those who harm our community by selling heroin and oxycodone. Over 25 people were arrested on state and federal charges for selling drugs. We are proud to have been a part of this investigation and thanks to the hard work of all of these dedicated law enforcement professionals, the people of Rockland are a little safer today.

It is a well known fact that those who traffic in narcotics do not identify themselves and use large commercial establishments, like the Palisades and Shops at Nanuet Malls, to blend in and remain anonymous. Over 70,000 people visit these two Malls on a daily basis. Our statistics show that very few acts of violence occur at these Malls, and none involving those arrested in this investigation.
