Cops Allege Drug Addict Shot Teen on Way to Robbing Deli
The incident took place in Harriman.

State Police announce the arrest of Matthew Bauman of Harriman, NY following an investigation into the Nov. 24 shooting of a Hasidic man near the Quick Shop Deli in Harriman.
Police allege that Bauman, 25, had stolen a firearm from a family member and planned on using it to commit a robbery at the deli in order to acquire money to fund his drug addiction.
Aron Weiss, 18, of Kiryas Joel, was near the River Road deli using his cell phone.

Police allege that Bauman accosted him and tried to take money from him; Weiss fled; and Bauman shot him.
Weiss was hit once in the shoulder, police said.

Bauman was charged with Assault in the First Degree, Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. All are all felony charges.
Bauman was arraigned at the Village of Harriman Court and sent to Orange County Jail without bail.
The State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Village of Harriman Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
