Employee, Police Thwart Shoplifting in West Nyack

A White Plains man is alleged to have walked out of Macy's with $1,530 in unpaid merchandise.

The Clarkstown Police Department responded to Macy’s at the Palisades Mall for a report of shoplifting received at 5:30 p.m. May 30.

A loss prevention employee reported he had seen a man remove clothing from a shelf, stuff the merchandise in bags and exit the store without paying. The employee tried to stop him and a struggle ensued.

The suspect was apprehended by responding patrol units, and there was no injury to the employee, a 26-year-old West Nyack man.

The suspect was identified as Jaemon Greenhill, 42, of White Plains, NY.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. The stolen clothing merchandise was valued at $1,530.

Greenhill was charged with robbery 3rd (felony), grand larceny (felony), criminal possession of stolen property 4th (felony) possession of burglar tools (misdemeanor) and harassment 2nd (violation).

Greenhill was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. No bail was set. He was sent to the Rockland County Jail and has a return court date of June 3.
