JEWISH  INTERMARRIAGE

CSI is proud to host Rabbi Charles Simon  Executive Director of the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs to speak on Understanding Intermarriage and Keruv for Jews in the 21st Century

Since 1981 Rabbi Charles Simon has served as the Executive Director of the Federation of Jewish Mens Clubs, an arm of the Conservative Movement. An active innovator, he's produced a host of materials designed to make Jewish life more accessible. He has been published in Commentary, Judaism, and Reform Judaism magazines. In the winter of 2000, Rabbi Simon was asked by the leadership of the FJMC to place the issue of intermarriage on the agenda of the Conservative Movement. Twelve years later, FJMC's Keruv (Outreach) Initiative, supports our understanding of intermarriage.  It involves many congregations and volunteers in various stages of repositioning their synagogues to meet the challenge of demographic change.  His most famous piece on the topic is titled, "The Role of the Supportive Non-Jewish Spouse in the Conservative/Masorti Movement."

Coffee and dessert follow.  To get information on other events in our Visions Lecture Series, call the CSI office at (845) 358-3767
