Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts Underway In Rockland County
The Rockland County Disaster Relief Fund is now open and accepting monetary donations that will help the earthquake victims in Haiti.

On Saturday, August 14th a 7.2 magnitude earthquake touched down on the Southeast region of Haiti. The earthquake is the worst the region has reported since 2010. Currently, there have been 9,900 confirmed injuries and 1,900 confirmed deaths. On Monday, tropical storm Grace made landfall in Haiti, causing flooding and complicating the earthquake rescue and recovery efforts.

The Rockland County Disaster Relief Fund, through United Way of Rockland County and the Rockland County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (RCVOAD) in partnership with the County of Rockland is now open and accepting monetary donations that will help the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Funds collected through the Rockland County Disaster Relief Fund will be used to meet the immediate needs and long-term recovery efforts for those impacted by the earthquake.

100% of all the donations will go to help the victims. Funds may be used to assist with items such as food, clothing, hygiene/cleaning products, recovery efforts or purchase of supplies for rebuilding.
“Having seen pictures and video of the devastation I know that the people of Rockland will step up once again to help those in need,” said County Executive Ed Day. “We ask all residents to support our Haitian community as we work together to help those directly affected by these natural disasters and please keep this island and its people in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.”
Donations can be made online by visiting www.uwrc.org, click on Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts on the top of the home page, or you can mail a check to the United Way of Rockland, 135 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Nyack, New York 10960. Please write Haiti Earthquake on the check.
