NYACK, NY — Nyack and South Orangetown residents approved their 2019-20 school budgets on Tuesday.
In Nyack the $86 million proposed budget was approved.
- Budget: Pass, 533-123
.The budget is a 1.81% spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 1.86% hike in the school tax levy.

Voters also authorized the district to use $5,000,000 from the capital reserve fund for alterations and renovations of school libraries
- Proposition: Pass, 555-105
In South Orangetown the $94.8 million proposed spending plan was approved by 1,224 yes votes to 374 no votes. The budget is an increase of 3.2% over current spending and the 3.72% tax levy increase was below the cap.

For the South Orangetown Board of Education, Cara Stepanian bested Rosemary Pitruzzella for a seat on the school board. Trustee Daniel Lamadrid was unopposed in his re-election bid.
