Rockland's Jobless Rate Continues Slow Fall

Unemployment rates in Westchester and Rockland counties were low enough in December to keep the counties on the state’s list of counties with the lowest unemployment rates for a second month— a list that Putnam County has been on steadily through the fall.

    • Columbia County (3.5%)
    • Nassau County (3.7%)
    • Albany County (3.8%)
    • Rockland County (3.8%)
    • Saratoga County (3.8%)
    • Putnam County (3.9%)
    • Dutchess County (4.0%)
    • Orange County (4.0%)
    • Westchester County (4.0%)

These numbers show steady positive change since the fall.

In November, Rockland and Westchester counties had unemployment rates of 4.1 percent. In October, Westchester’s jobless rate was 4.3 percent and Rockland’s was 4.2 percent. Rockland had an unemployment rate of 4.6 percent in September 2015, while Westchester posted a rate of 4.7 percent.

Putnam’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.0 in November, down from 4.1 percent in October, and 4.4 percent in September.
