UPDATE--Bus into Building: Storm Central for Nyack, Piermont Jan. 24
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement at 6AM

- Orange and Rockland County Fire reports on its Facebook page that EMS and the Nyack Fire Department are at the scene of a bus into a building, with injuries, at Jewett Place and Dickinson Avenue.
- The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties at 5:57 a.m. this morning:
Warmer air aloft has worked in across Long Island and New York City with a mix of sleet...freezing rain...and rain. Across Connecticut...the lower Hudson Valley...and interior northeast New Jersey there is still snow falling. The heaviest snow though will fall across southern Connecticut the next hour with rates of 1-2 inches an hour. Light snow will fall elsewhere. Much of the area will see a transition to a wintry mix over the next several hours...with coastal locations going over to rain...possibly mixed with freezing rain. Motorists need to be alert for snow and ice covered roadways and limited visibilities.
- No alerts for Stewart Airport. The Westchester County Airport is open. In inclement weather, passengers are urged to contact their airlines or check flight status before coming to the airport in case of potential delays or cancellations.

- Metro North reports good service at 7AM.
- #Rockland County says on its Facebook page that the Highway Department has prepared for a messy Saturday. All county roads were pre-treated with a brine solution, which prevents snow/ice from bonding to the pavement surface. As a result, the roads return to bare pavement much quicker once the storm has ended. All plow trucks are fueled, salt supplies are abundant and our highway crews are ready to roll. Please be careful!
According to AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams, “Airline passengers on the East Coast can expect delays due to direct effects of the storm ranging from poor visibility and low clouds to drenching rain and heavy snow.”
