Weather Alert: Frigid Temperatures and 'Periods of Snow' Saturday Through Tuesday in Nyack, Piermont
Much of the Hudson Valley has over a foot of snow on the ground from the previous storms, so the last thing anyone is looking for is more.

Another snow storm is headed toward Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties this weekend and into next week, and according to the National Weather Service, it could dump a significant amount of snow on parts of the region.
“Periods of snow are possible Saturday night into Tuesday,” says the NWS, speaking about the Hudson Valley. “The potential exists for a total of 8 inches or more of snow.”
The Northeast, including a large swath of the I-95 urban corridor, could see a prolonged period of snow, perhaps heavy at times, from later Sunday through Tuesday, The Weather Channel says.

AccuWeather.com agrees that snow is on the way, but says it could be more of a “nuisance” than a big storm in some areas in the Northeast.

“Most of the snow events will tend to be more of a nuisance, where property owners will have to clean off a coating to an inch or two of snow periodically, while road crews will have to put down several rounds of deicing or anti-skid materials,” writes AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the next several days, including an alert about the possibility of “patchy black ice” on roads in all three counties as temperatures plummet overnight.
“A special weather statement has been issued for wind chill values ranging from 0 to -5 late tonight into Friday morning in the New York City Metropolitan area,” according to the NWS.
