For the past several years, students from local high schools have participated in the annual United Way of Rockland Spring Day of Caring—volunteering their talents to design the official Day of Caring T-Shirt through a county-wide student competition.
The winners see their designs worn by hundreds of volunteers who donate their time for the day.
“Thank you to all the students that submitted designs. There are so many talented students that it was a difficult choice for our Board of Directors to make,” said Mimi Vilord, President and CEO of United Way of Rockland. “However, the winning design was once again from a Clarkstown South High School student. This year, the artist whose design received the most votes is Barbara Letizia.”

Barbara is a junior and it is her dream to pursue her studies in Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan.
“I aspire to be a fashion designer, and I sew garments of my own as well as illustrate them,” she said. “I am interested in and use all mediums of art also.”

The winning design will be worn by more than 300 volunteers April 17 at the United Way Spring Day of Caring. The day begins with a lunch and rally for the volunteers and then they disperse to their various projects at dozens of Rockland County non-profits.
