1,000 Books Project Feeds Children’s Love of Reading in Ossining
Pre-school children have an opportunity to participate in special library program

There are so many ways to keep busy these days, but some of the youngest scholars in the community, reading has become their go-to favorite thing to do.
Two area students have read so much lately they have been added to the hall-of-fame by completing the Ossining Public Library Staff Development Center’s 1,000 Books Project.
Those receiving awards are pre-kindergartners Anneliese Marsh Lu and Talia Tiganila. They received an award certificate for their effort.

“I wanted to share that she finished the Ossining Public Library's 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten project today by reading 1,000 unique books over the past two years,” Anneliese’s mother, Amanda Marsh said in an email. “She had her picture added to the project's hall of fame just in time to finish Reading Week. Many of the books on her list were from Park's monthly SEL themes and the dual-language collection she brings home weekly in her Raising a Reader bag.”
The program enables early readers to establish literacy skills.
