AAUW Monthly Meeting - Ossining MATTERS
Wednesday, February 4, 10:30 am. AAUW-Westchester's monthly meeting focused on Ossining MATTERS, an education foundation.
AAUW-Westchester’s February Branch meeting will center on the work of Ossining MATTERS, an education foundation created to enrich learning opportunities for students in the Ossining school district. Ossining MATTERS has funded over 180 district employee created projects. Such projects include funding the purchase of 16 Google Chromebooks for use in a fourth grade classroom where teachers can create virtual classrooms in all subject areas using a class Google Box, Wiki, or Dreambox. Another project was providing a sixth grade class with Kindles in order to encourage reading. Other programs include anti-bullying, nutrition and wellness, and a community garden.
Guest speakers Diana Lennon and Jennifer Forsberg will discuss these and other innovative educational programs made possible by community collaborative funding.
The branch meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Geenburgh Public Library, 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford. The meeting is open to the public, all are welcome.
