Assemblywoman Sandy Galef today announced that her 2018 Senior Forum will be held on Wednesday, July 18th, 2018, from 9 am- 12 pm at the Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady Street in Cortlandt Manor. The morning will begin with a light breakfast provided by New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, during which singer/songwriter Judy Kass will perform. A brief intermission will also include a performance from Recovery Rep from Paramount Hudson Valley. This year’s forum will cover topics as diverse as safe nighttime driving, senior scams, and eye and heart health.
Erin Mitchell, Director of Engagement at AARP, will outline the organization’s legislative priorities on the state and federal levels. New York State Assistant Attorney General Gary Brown will draw attention to the latest scams targeted to seniors and how best to avoid them. Donald Schuck, a New York State Certified Driver Improvement Instructor at AAA, will discuss best practices for safe senior driving, particularly at night. In a similar vein, Dr. Philip Calenda, M.D., an ophthalmologist at New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital, will talk about how our eyes and our vision change as we age. Dr. Ricardo Esquitin, M.D., a cardiologist at the same hospital, will speak about how to keep a healthy heart and avoid common heart problems that seniors are at risk of facing.
“I am looking forward to my annual Senior Forum and am excited to hear from the insightful speakers attending this year. I anticipate a very informative and entertaining morning, and I encourage all those interested in these important topics to attend,” said Galef. No RSVP is needed.
