The Teatown Environmental Science Academy (TESA) is an intensive and challenging field-based environmental science program for high school students taking place July 1-26 at Teatown Lake Reservation.
TESA provides invaluable experience for students interested in the environment by exposing them to the techniques and technology that scientists use to study today's pressing conservation issues. Throughout the course, students will:
- Learn how to identify habitats and assess biodiversity
- Conduct watershed assessments and water quality testing
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology
- Study plant and wildlife populations
The format of the program will be a mix of lectures, discussions, and field activities taking place Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Participants will also conduct independent projects and present their findings at a class symposium.
