Janis Castaldi, former Deputy Mayor and Village Trustee, will formally commence her campaign for mayor of Ossining May 5.
Castaldi, owner of two local businesses, talked to Patch in April about being an entrepreneur.
She served a partial term as a Democrat on the Ossining Board of Trustees. She resigned in September 2011 but promised to keep updated on village issues.
She became a Republican and ran unsuccessfully in 2012 against State Sen. David Carlucci. The Conservative party backed her bid until its leaders learned that she is in a same-sex marriage. She told the media she considered it a non-issue.
Castaldi will be making her announcement at 11 a.m. at 95 Main St. (Quack LLC and LizzFitness).
Two Democrats are also seeking the seat. Current Mayor William Hanauer wants a fifth term; however, the Ossining Democratic Committee endorsed Trustee Victoria Gearity, who is in her first term on the village board.
