Croton-Harmon Schools Calendar 2015-16

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Croton-Harmon School District.

First day of school: Sept. 2

Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 7

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Parent-teacher conferences (no students): Nov. 3

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Day before Thanksgiving (early dismissal): Nov. 25

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Superintendent’s Conference Day (early dismissal): Dec. 2

Holiday recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 3 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Presidents Day/Winter recess (school closed): Feb. 15-19

Holiday recess: March 24-28

New York State testing: April 5-20

Holiday recess: April 21-25

Memorial Day (school closed): May 30

Last day of school: June 23

If no snow days are used, school will be closed on the following days: 5/27, 4/26 and 5/31.

If one snow day is used, school will be closed on: 5/27 and 4/26.

If two snow days are used, school will be closed on: 5/27.

After six emergency days are used and if additional emergency days are needed, school will be in session in the following order: 3/28, 4/21 and 4/25 .

Personal leave and leave without pay requests will not be granted should the district need to use emergency days. Staff should not make binding commitments for trips on these days.

PLEASE NOTE: This calendar includes district wide vacations, Superintendent’s Conference Days (full and half days) and holidays. Additional half days and whole days when a specific school is closed will be listed in the district’s 12-month calendar, as are other important dates. To be fully informed, parents should check the 12- month calendar carefully when it is sent home at the beginning of the school year.
