OSSINING, NY — Fable: From Farm to Table on Route 134 will hold its annual Spring Farm Fest May 15.

Last year, more than 500 people enjoyed the event, so for 2022 organizers are planning to make it even better. (That's not all the farm was up to last spring. SEE: Farm Buys 'Millennium Feathernet' With Community Support)

This year, patrons of the farm on the border of Ossining, New Castle and Yorktown will be able to shop among dozens of local small business vendors and partake in family fun activities. Guests can grab food and drink from local food trucks, bakeries, and chefs in attendance.

As we all continue to make our way forward post pandemic, supporting your local businesses fosters a greater sense of community. Your neighbor might be the local coffee shop owner, said the farm owners, Tom and Kristin Deacon. Join us between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to celebrate that spirit of community at Fable: From Farm to Table.

Local resident Steve Morra wrote on Facebook regarding the last event, “It was a great time! Can’t wait for the next one.”

In addition to growing and selling locally sourced products, Fable provides valuable educational programming. Also, one of its biggest innovations has been its version of community-supported agriculture. Buying a membership in a CSA gives you fresh produce in season and provides the farm with income to prep for the next season.

While many CSA operations involve a monthly box or bag of whatever is in season, Fable offers a CSA card for use at their market. You can pick out what you want, including locally-sourced meats and cheeses, baked goods, condiments and other products. Last Sunday, the market featured foraged ramps as well as baby greens, winter apples, frozen meats, eggs, soaps and candles, roasted garlic cloves, mushrooms and more.

It means it doesn't matter if you go away on vacation at harvest time or overwinter in Florida, you support the farm all along, using the debit card when you're around and adding more to it at need. Learn more here.
