Families Enjoy Read-Aloud at Little Free Library Gathering
The Ossining PTA sponsors events each month at Little Free Libraries to promote reading and build community.

Ossining families braved below-freezing temperatures last Friday for the January Story Time Gathering at the Roosevelt School Little Free Library. Board of Education member Aaron Spring read “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats. Parents and children went inside to warm up in the cafeteria, where they snacked on powdered doughnuts and cupcakes.
“I come to every Little Free Library event,” said Mr. Spring, an avid reader and military history buff. “I think it’s an awesome initiative by the PTA.”
The Ossining Little Free Libraries help bring the community together and are an easy way for children to get new books to read.

Parent Rebecca Raymond, who is the steward for the Roosevelt Little Free Library, attended the event with her daughters, Samantha and Alex. They had decorated the library for winter, adorning it with snowflakes, and “Let it snow” and snowman decals.
“We’re trying to spread the word,” Ms. Raymond said. “The point of these events is to make the community aware of the books.”
