Grow Local Film Series Kicks off Thursday
it continues the conversation started Sunday at the Ossining library with the showing of 'Kombit: the Cooperative.'

There is a lot of interest in the future of small scale farming in America and around the world as evidenced by Sunday’s full house showing at the Ossining Library of Kombit: The Cooperative, a documentary film about a farm cooperative in Haiti started by a local resident.
Now, the Grow Local Film Series kicks off Thursday in Ossining, at 173 Main St. in the offices of Down to Earth Markets.
Thursday’s film, entitled Future Farmers in the Spotlight, was created by a Dutch couple who traveled throughout Europe meeting inspiring beginning farmers and documenting the range of issues they face from financing their farms to deciding which markets aligns with their personal values.

Following the screening will be a conversation with two of Down to Earth’s farmers, Chris Harmon and Scott Hill, and Laurie Freyer, the Coordinator of the Growing Farmers Initiative at Stonebarns. The evening will prove interesting and inspiring and give you an inside view of what it takes to start and operate a small diverse farm.
Attendees are also invited to Keenan House (just up the street) afterwards to continue the conversation: a 10 percent discount is offered to film goers with event coupon.
