Letter To The Editor: Bail Reform and Immigrant Driving Permits
The writer opposes incumbent Pete Harckham in State Senate District 40 and urges a vote for challenger Rob Astorino.
Dear Editor,
I am writing in my support of Rob Astorino who is running for our NY State Senate. I feel we need a balanced voice in our State Senate and I urge everyone to consider voting for Rob Astorino. Rob has proven to be someone who can work with both sides of the political aisle.
Rob’s opponent, Pete Harckham, sends postcards that emphasize the many bills he has passed. What is not highlighted is him co-sponsoring the Bail Elimination Act of 2019 that a large portion of the population oppose.

Pete Harckham also co-sponsored a bill allowing illegal immigrants to obtain a driver’s license. I don’t see this bill on his mailings either. This bill sends the message we do not stand by our laws. They are flexible and not to be upheld.
NY needs a leader that doesn't bash his opponent at every turn because he happens to support some of the President’s ideas. So does half the country!

We are at a crossroads in our country and in Westchester. We need to get back to sensible policy making while not ignoring but improving on social ills that surround us and I think Rob’s voice will help fill the void that is in Albany.
Thank you,
Cathy Connolly
