Ossining Farmers Market GROWS; Summer Season Opens SAT 5/23!
Welcome back R and G Produce, John D. Madura Farms + certified-organic Taliaferro Farms. Delicious foods to eat on site debut, too.
Farmer John Madura called us this week, right at about lunchtime. He wanted to talk about FOOD. Specifically, all the farm fresh foods he plans to bring to the Ossining Farmers Market: asparagus, greenhouse head lettuce, spring parsnips, mushroom varieties including crimini, portobello, and shitake – and that’s just the short list.
This Saturday, May 23rd, the summer season begins at Ossining’s Down to Earth Farmers Market. We welcome back John D. Madura Farms, R & G Produce, and organic-certified grower, Taliaferro Farms. We’re also delighted to announce new foods to enjoy at the market. Coco from Nana’s Home Kitchen will fire up the grill with chicken kabobs. Also, Santo Burrito joins the market as a new vendor with fresh and hearty burritos. Now customers can enjoy lunch at the market, as well as shop for groceries from the market’s farmers and food makers.

The Ossining Farmers Market is located downtown at Market Square, at the corner of Spring and Main Streets. From now through December, market hours are every Saturday, 8:30 am-1:00 pm.
In 2015, the theme of Down to Earth Farmers Market is Every Food Has a Season. It’s said that we never swim in the same river twice. Likewise, we never visit the same Ossining Farmers Market from one week to another. The vendors bring ever-changing foods of the seasonal harvest. As the seasons evolve, Down to Earth Markets’ recipe program will feature market sourced meals with something for vegetarians and omnivores alike. Customers are invited to explore the seasons through one dish or all.
