Ossining Officials Sworn in Jan. 1
The flag behind them belongs to just-retired Parks and Rec Superintendent Henry Atterbury.

The Jan. 1 ceremony at the Caputo Community Center featured State Senator David Carlucci, state Assemblywoman Sandra Galef, Mayor Victoria Gearity, Trustee Omar Herrera and Trustee John Codman III.
It also featured an antique American flag.
The flag belongs to Henry Clinton Atterbury III—passed down from his grandfather.

Flag was my grandfathers, given to my father and then to me about a year before he died. It was orignially on the front of a Norwich Ct. bank buidling. My grandfather was on the board of the bank and not sure how he got it, maybe new flag was going up and he took it, he was a Norwich resident for many years. It appears to be from 1891 , has had 3 stars added into the original , there are 47 now, so 44 on original. 124 years and I hope Robert my son, at the appropriate time, will take it after me.
The 44-Star Flag: This Flag became the Official United States Flag on July 4th, 1891. A star was added for the admission of Wyoming (July 10, 1890) and was to last for 5 years. The Presidents to serve under this flag were Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893) and Grover Cleveland (1893-1897).
