Ossining Schools Are Looking for Volunteer Interpreters

District would welcome assistance from people who are bilingual in English and Spanish, as well as other languages.

The Ossining School District is seeking volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish, as well as other languages, and would be willing to serve as interpreters during parent-teacher conferences, parent engagement nights, college fairs and other events.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that all members of our diverse community have equal access to information and can fully participate in the educational life of their children,” said Ferzeen Shamsi, Claremont School assistant principal.

The district needs volunteers to serve at all of its schools and would welcome assistance from parents and other community members. Anyone who is interested can visit http://goo.gl/forms/EeHDTDFcrM to fill out an online form.

“Volunteer interpreters would support families in bridging the bond between home and school while deepening communication,” Mrs. Shamsi said. “We feel strongly that this, in turn, will make a critical contribution to the achievement of our students.”

For more information, contact Mrs. Shamsi at 914-762-5830, ext. 4309, or fshamsi@ossining.k12.ny.us.
