Ossining Superintendent to Receive Award from Manhattanville's Changing Suburbs Institute
Ossining Superintendent Raymond Sanchez to be honored by Manhattanville College
The Changing Suburbs Institute®, a collaborative initiative of Manhattanville College and the surrounding community, is honoring Ossining schools Superintendent Raymond Sanchez with a Friendship Award this month.
Sanchez is being recognized by the institute, which is in its 10th year, for his “early, consistent support of our goals and programs” and commitment to improving education opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse students, said Anita Nordal, assistant dean for community outreach at Manhattanville College School of Education.
Sanchez, a student in the doctoral program at Manhattanville, helped establish the college’s Professional Development School at Claremont School. He was instrumental in creating the Manhattanville Excellence in Teaching Academy at Park Early Childhood Center, an innovative masters/certification program in which students spend a year as apprentices. Sanchez is also being honored for his strong support of the work of the group’s Hispanic Parents Leadership Institute.
