Powerball Winning Lottery Numbers For Near $950 Million Jackpot, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016

UPDATE: Saturday’s Powerball winning numbers are 16-19-32-34-57 and the Powerball number is 13. By the time the numbers were drawn Saturday night, the Powerball jackpot had climbed to an estimated $949,800,000.

Original post: The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is now up to $900 million, a $100 million increase in less than 24 hours, as the record largest lottery payout in U.S. history continues to grow.

The cash payout alone is an estimated $558 million.

State lottery officials said that afternoon hourly sales climbed to $ 3.3 million per hour on Saturday. By the time the numbers were drawn Saturday night, the Powerball jackpot had climbed to an estimated $949,800,000.

“This history making Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed sales statewide to $49.4 million as of 4:00 p.m. this afternoon,” said Gardner Gurney, Director of the Division of the Lottery. “At this level of sales, we will have thousands of winners in New York at various prize levels.”

Tonight’s drawing is the largest Powerball jackpot ever and also the largest jackpot prize of any lottery game in U.S. history. No one matched all six numbers for Wednesday’s $528.5 million drawing causing the jackpot to roll to $900 million or $558 million in a lump sum. This Powerball jackpot began on November 7, 2015 at $40 million and has rolled over 19 times leading up totonight’s $900 million dollar jackpot.

Lottery officials remind players that they could be a winner even if they don’t win the jackpot prize. The second place prize is $1 million dollars for matching the first five numbers or $2 million if they paid an extra dollar for the Power Play feature when they bought their ticket.

Saturday’s Powerball drawing time is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. ET. In New York you can purchase a Powerball ticket until 10 p.m. tonight.
