Save the Date: Ossining MATTERS Kick-Starts the School Year with its 5K

Join Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation Sept. 6 for the 12th annual 5K Run/2 Mile Walk fundraiser.

From Ossining MATTERS

Kick off the new school year with a morning of fun, exercise, family, community and tradition! Now in its12th year, the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation 5K Run/2 Mile Walk takes place September 6, 2014 at 9 a.m. By participating, you and hundreds of other Ossining MATTERS supporters can help make a difference in the education of all of Ossining’s students.

While the event is timed, the Ossining Matters Run/Walk is much more than a race. It is a time when Ossining residents display Ossining Pride and Ossining commitment to programs that enrich our children’s educational experience.

This year’s route is traditional, with a twist. Runners begin at the Main Street Post Office, while Walkers start at the Double Arches. Everyone will follow the trail along the old Croton Aqueduct trail towards the Crawbuckie Beach Nature Center, accessing the park via a path created by the new Avalon residential complex. Walkers will venture into the complex before heading back to finish their hike. Runners will proceed a bit further north before returning to the Double Arches Finish Line. Be prepared, as it is a multi-surface course (pavement, grass, dirt and wood chip trails) of varying elevation, with uneven terrain, stairs and hills. Super Race Systems will provide timing for our runners.
